Job Description
Sassetti is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Client Accounting and Advisory Services team (CAAS). This is a hybrid role with some in-office days required.
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant, with supervision, will maintain records of financial transactions; post transactions; reconcile accounts; ensure compliance; and meet client deadlines. They will also be expected to provide full charge bookkeeping duties to a variety of clients in a variety of industries.

Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Perform all work according to the Firm’s methods, policies, and procedures
- Balance and maintain accurate ledgers, reconcile with general ledger
- Download accounting transactions for integration with multiple systems for accounting and reconciliation
- Pay vendor invoices or provide assistance to client employees performing this function
- Monthly, quarterly, and/or year-end payroll reporting
- Monthly, quarterly, and/or year-end financial reporting
- Respond timely to clients and firm employees via phone and/or email
- Complete firm or industry required training
- Follow firm and/or industry compliance requirements
Required Skills/Abilities
- Not-for-profit experience highly desirable

Qualifications and Competencies
- Client Services – Promptly handles client’s inquiries and requests; maintains strict confidentiality of all client business; is courteous, friendly and professional during client interactions; identifies value adds for clients
- Communication/Language – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common accounting financial reports and IRS documents; uses effective communication skills with clients and staff; listens actively and inquires to understand; interacts with others in a manner that cultivates an environment of trust, respect, and fairness; maintains communication with CAAS team members; provides clear written communication in both internal and external correspondence
- Operational Excellence – Seeks opportunities to be chargeable; strives to complete assignments within timeline and budget; maintains accurate time records with descriptions of work for client billing; maintains weekly schedules and communicates with scheduler and reviewer; ability to provide neat, complete, and organized workpapers using the firm’s technology
- Personal Development – Takes the initiative to increase knowledge and skills through self-study and personal development; identifies opportunities to try new tasks to expand personal knowledge; completes training requirements; takes corrective action on identified areas for improvement
- Bookkeeping – Demonstrates the ability to efficiently and effectively use bookkeeping software appropriate to client needs; develops working knowledge of basic bookkeeping concepts; ability to balance and maintain accurate ledgers and reconcile with the general ledger; ability to handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll; ability to prepare financial and payroll reports
- Accounting – Demonstrates the ability to tie out basic balance sheet and perform client bookkeeping; begins to understand and apply GAAP and principles of internal controls
- Reasoning – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in both written and oral forms; ability to manage time and work independently and efficiently
- Computer and Software – Ability to use Excel, Word, Outlook, PDF, NetSuite, and QuickBooks; ability to learn other firm software such as CCH and XCM
Experience
- Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role
- Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online and NetSuite preferred
